We are pleased to
announce that in fall of 2009 Mahendra Jyoti school of Chaurikharka
added a 10 +2 diploma program with the help of our successful
fundraising campaign. On behalf of the children of the Khumbu we
would like to thank Mingma Tshering (Hapa) ($2000), Pemba
Sherpa of Sherpa Painting in Colorado ($2000), Rishi Nirula
($1000), Maila Mingma Sherpa ($500), Nima Sherpa of Seattle
($250), and Emily Mansfeild $250, for their generous
contributions in helping us successfully fund this project.

We along with other
concerned members of Chaurikharka's Sherpa community have joined
together to form the NGO Networking Education for
Poverty
Alleviation among Locals (NEPAL) an
organization dedicated to improving educational opportunities
for Nepal's less fortunate children. We will continue our support
for Education in Nepal and the Khumbu through our active
involvement in NEPAL. To find out more
